Very few are angry about the tax. People are angry that CCP is using it to try to force them in a direction they may not want to go.
You've never felt "elitist", you say - as you tell people to man up and play the game the way YOU think it should be played. I've spent most of my EVE career in a player corp and will continue to do so. However, people shouldn't be forcing others to play the game in a manner in which they don't want to.
How would you feel if, all of a sudden, CCP started changing player corp taxes to a higher amount to "motivate" people to play in NPC corps? It's not about the tax - it's about the fact that people pay for the game and are then told how to play it.
For those who say this is a mechanic to make player corps more appealing - let the player corps do it themselves. Want people to join? Create your own incentives. Offer free T1 ammo. The corp a friend and I are trying to create will be offering T2 ammo for free after you've been there a certain amount of time.
Offer free ship replacement lost to corp causes. Offer ships at-cost for any other loss.
Don't be lazy and ask CCP to do your work for you. Let people in NPC corps be. Let people who PVP be. Let people who LOVE player corps be. There's no wrong style of playing. If you don't like it, don't participate in that play style.
^YES THIS
Why doesn't CCP help make PC more appealing like making it possible for corps to better control assets/isk w/o having to risk an entire hangar or wallet, or one of the most needed changes to corps the consentual attack option so that corporation members aren't subjected to being possible targets to eachother. How about remove or make optional the member location of all corporation members, so members can't look up where someone is without that player enabling it.
None of it will change that some people don't want to be in a PC because they play when they feel like it and don't want to deal with crap/politics etc and about them not doing 'corp' stuff when they are on, whether because the time they have to play is limited or maybe because they want to do what they want and not go off to 'work' for the corp. NPC members pay for the game same as PC members why should CCP 'pick' on them for the way they choose to play?
For those saying join a 'casual' PC all the issues I listed above are still valid in any PC, the alternative is a one man corp yes 1.6million isk sink for CCP, where I can be war dec'd because someone doesn't like what I'm doing or whatever, great leave pc, new corp 1.6million sink to CCP, plus basically cut me off from any social interaction, yeah thanks for that.
I recognize the benefit of not becoming a war target but don't think players should 'pay' for it anymore than they do now with a 'worthless' npc that has only 1 benefit of a pc the corp chat, that's it.
